Skillshare: Miha Turšič
1 and 2 Apr 2021
Lecture: 1 Apr at 19:00
Counselling: 2. Apr from 10:00 to 12:00
This time on Skillshare, we will talk about connecting science, technology and art to achieve social change, and the role of the artist as an intermediary. What does “co-creating the future in a pragmatic way” mean? Our guest will be Miha Turšič, an artist, designer and researcher focused on the development of the arts and humanities in outer space.
At the beginning of his career, Miha Turšič co-founded the design studio Asobi, where he worked as a creative director. He continued his journey as a co-founder of the art group Postgravityart, where he is still involved in the development of art in outer space.
As a by-product of artistic practice, he also co-founded the Cultural Centre of European Space Technologies (KSEVT), through which he enables research of artistic, cultural and humanistic practices in cooperation with space institutions. In recent years, he has been working in Waag (NL), where he runs the Open Space Lab and develops new interdisciplinary research and development methods. He is also active in the European initiative S + T + ARTS, which enables the development of new forms of technological growth based on the integration of artistic practices in the manufacturing industry, robotics and new media.
The interdisciplinary integration in the fields of science, technology and the arts has immense potential for the innovations that will be necessary for the social, environmental and economic challenges that the near future brings.
