Four months ago, we temporarily set up our premises in the Cukrarna Palace, where we installed Created in Slovenia, an exhibition presenting the Centre for Creativity’s operation over the previous almost five-year period. At the same time, as part of the BIO 27 accompanying programme, we organised three international exhibitions which aimed to explore and confront the industrial and technocentric with alternative narratives and mythologies. Before we wrap up the exhibitions, we invite you to join us for the Sunday at the Cukrarna Palace event, which will see young Slovenian artists present their fresh design collections, a tour of the neighbouring Sever Parking Garage with the Nonument Group, and several guided tours of the Created in Slovenia exhibition and the BIO 27 accompanying programme throughout the day.
11:00-15:00 | POP-UP FAIR
From ceramics to fashion accessories, there’s something unique for every home and every wardrobe! Participating artists:
Brencha | Brinas | Fuga | Gentle Power | JNŽ studio | Jona Bednjanec | Juha studio | Nika Ravnik | Pirate Piška | Toasted Furniture and others
12:00-15:00 | Nonument Group: TGH-68: Nothing Can Happen Here, audio drive-in through the Sever Parking Garage
The characteristic feature of the Sever Parking Garage, one of the masterpieces of the architect Savin Sever, is its distinct duality: it is a revered example of quality 1960s architecture and at the same time a neglected and “useless” building. With an audio drive through the garage, the Nonument Group will draw attention to its specific structure: the building is not only architecturally fascinating, but despite its supposedly problematic present already full of vital content and individual improvisations. Read openly enough, its specific structure, such as it is now, offers the changing city around it a platform for new, technologically contemporary, social, and city-forming content.
You’ll be driven individually by taxi up the spiral ramp, thinking of this unusual garage as a universe in itself.
The Nonument Group’s intervention is based on field observation and interviews with garage users, employees, and professionals. The audio walk is based on the story “The Library of Babel” by Jorge Luis Borges.
The audio ride lasts 20 minutes and is in Slovenian. For organisation reasons, please send your applications to: hana.vardjan@czk.si.
This year, the Nonument Group participated in the CZK partnership network with the Field Events project.
Produced by the Centre for Creativity and MoTA – Museum of Transitory Arts.
The project is a co-production with the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana and part of the pre-event celebrations for the opening of the Cukrarna Palace.
11:00, 13:00, 14:00 | Guided tours of Created in Slovenia and BIO27 Satellite programme
Guided tours of the Created in Slovenia exhibition and BIO 27 accompanying programme. The tours will be hosted by Anja Zorko, Head of the Centre for Creativity, Maja Kovačič, Project Manager at the Centre for Creativity, and Aleksandar Mišković (Vidic Grohar Architects).
Join us in front of the Cukrarna Palace and see the exhibition Created in Slovenia one last time!
