Crafts from Anatolia, Designs from Europe
Crafts from Anatolia, Designs from Europe
We are inviting you to participate in the open call of Crafts from Anatolia, Designs from Europe, which invites all types of creatives and designers to participate.
The project was conceived by the Turkey Design Council (Turkey), together with project partners Brumen Foundation and the Traditional Arts Association (Turkey).
ABOUT CRAFTS
Anatolia, a vast region comprising most of mainland Turkey, was once home to ancient civilizations; today, however, local artisans preserve ancient knowledge, which they pass on from master to apprentice, but are increasingly sinking into oblivion. To stimulate interest in traditional craft practices, we invite you to learn about five very different crafts – inlay, quilting, pottery, felt making and stonemasonry – and to develop a conceptual design for their modern reinterpretation.
OPEN CALL
The 10 authors of the selected ideas will travel to Turkey (they will also receive financial compensation, travel and accommodation costs included) and join the artisans in their workshops, where they will work together to prototype products that will then be exhibited in Istanbul. Promotions across the European Union.
MORE INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION
The full call in English is published on the project website, where the application form is also available.
Online Q&A: 25 January 2022 at 5:00 p.m.
