The European Commission's Grand Prize for Innovation in Technology, Industry and Society
S + T + ARTS = BEGINNING – Innovation at the intersection of science, technology and ART:
STARTS is an initiative of the European Commission featuring connections of technology and artistic practice, which effectively implements the formulation of European policy to foster innovation and benefit the world of art. The focus is on people and projects that contribute to tackling the social, ecological and economic challenges facing this continent.
One of the elements of the STARTS initiative is the prestigious €40,000 award. Each year, a competition is held to select two innovative projects at the intersection of science, technology and the arts that have a significant impact on economic and social innovation. Each STARTS winner receives €20,000 and is prominently presented at the Ars Electronica festival and other events of consortium partners BOZAR, Waag, INOVA +, T6 Ecosystems, French Tech Grande Provence and Frankfurter Buchmesse.
