The Center for Creativity, as part of the Skillshare program, presents a fashion piece by Peter Movrin, one of Slovenia’s most prominent fashion designers, at the Museum of Architecture and Design. Movrin has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary fashion, known for his bold, oversized constructions, artisanal approach, and passion for fashion. He completed his studies in Fashion Design at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana (NTF) with the diploma project FranzMadonna, which received exceptional acclaim and positioned him in the international design field; the creation was notably worn by Lady Gaga.
The piece originates from the graduation collection FranzMadonna, in which Peter Movrin explored the heritage of Gothic art, an era marked by God’s excellency, people’s humility and the strong religious motives of Christianity, and transformed its expressive architectural aesthetics into contemporary silhouettes. Rays of light were introduced into the materials through notches and shapes extending outside the body, creating a contrast between powerful leather details and a light and poetic feeling that softens the collection and adds a sense of romanticism. Covered faces and layers of dark material evoke mystery and invite curiosity, encouraging us to investigate forms that reveal themselves through body movement. Perhaps beneath it all there is a trace of hope.
