When discussing the green transition, we often think first of technological solutions, energy systems, and environmental regulations. However, technology and legislation alone will not solve the climate crisis—we also need a profound cultural shift and the activation of our ecological imagination. Where better to begin this transformation than within the cultural and creative sectors?
Association for Culture and Education PiNA and the Museum of Architecture and Design – MAO have joined forces to organize the international professional conference CULTURE IN CIRCULATION: Reuse, Reduce, Reimagine.
The conference will be held in English.
Participating
Julie’s Bicycle (UK): The keynote lecture will be delivered by Laura Pando Martínez from a pioneering international organization that has been mobilizing the arts and creative sectors to address the climate crisis for many years.
Kilowatt / Serra Madre (Italy): Chiara Crozzoli will present the work of the Bologna-based incubator for social and ecological innovation, which uses art and multidisciplinary dialogue to reshape public understanding of environmental challenges.
ReBiennale (Italy): Tommaso Cacciari will introduce the platform, which focuses on recycling and reusing materials left behind after major cultural events such as the Venice Biennale.
Regional Panels: International speakers will be joined by leading regional experts, including Živa Kavka (Focus – Association for Sustainable Development), Žan Kobal and Barbara Predan (Futuring Group), Marin Nižić (Urbani Separe, Croatia), and Maša Cvetko (Prostorož).
Registration
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required due to limited seating capacity.
The conference is organised by the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) and Association for Culture and Education PiNA as part of the Platform of Used Materials (MAO) and EkoKreatura (PiNA) projects. Both projects are financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia through the Green Transition in Culture programme and by the European Union.
