The exhibition marks the 110th anniversary of the birth and 50th anniversary of the death of architect Marjan Šorli (1915–1975) and is the first in the new Preview series, which innovatively opens the MAO collection to the public.
Šorli was a unique architect of Slovenian post-war architecture, creating architecture tailored to the human needs being, with erudite knowledge, an emphasis on harmony with nature, the use of traditional materials, and a human scale. His work combines the influences of the Plečnik’s school, research on folk architecture and study trips around Europe and the United States.
The exhibition does not merely present an overview of his oeuvre, but offers insight into the research process: fragments of archival material, plans and models analyzed by students of the Faculty of Architecture and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design are combined into thematic sets, commented on and supplemented.
