Embroidery is translated into socially active projects as a tool of connectedness
The Modern Embroidered Selfi is a tool for personal and community psychosocial empowerment through design. The Selfi product is a counterpoint to the internet 'selfie' culture, as the Selfi embroidered self-portrait is created through a process of immersive, contemplative experience using a traditional artisanal textile embroidery technique. The project was developed in collaboration with the Association Odnos, in creative and educational encounters with groups of immigrant and refugee women from different parts of the world.
