Building on the Earthrise platform and Circolo’s commitment to design as a driver of ecological transition, the project aims to connect european-based designers with local companies, artisans, researchers and transdisciplinary experts across Turin and the wider Piedmont area. With mentorship sessions by Designregio Kortrijk, BASE Milano and others, the residency combines site visits, exchanges and hands-on experimentation. Expected outcomes include prototypes, material tests, process documentation and a final public exhibition engaging professionals, students and wider audiences. The project reflects Circolo’s profile as a platform linking design, research, production and public engagement.

Circolo del Design will provide:

• Designer’s fee 1,500 € VAT included
• Round-trip travel costs
• Accommodation
• Public transportation pass
• Production of the residency output, for which Circolo del Design shall be responsible, up to a maximum amount of 3,000 € VAT included
• A dedicated workspace of 30 sqm within the Circolo del Design
• Collaboration opportunities: Circolo del Design actively promotes a collaborative atmosphere, supporting interaction between the resident designer and interdisciplinary experts, artisans and local institutions, with networking events, collaborative workshops, interdisciplinary discussions etc
• Technical, logistical and organisational support for the development of the project covered by the residency

Eligibility criteria:

• Under 35 years of age
• Applicants must demonstrate an international dimension within their practice through research, professional experience, collaborations, cultural
  exchange, mobility, or engagement with transnational networks and contexts in Europe.
• Well-structured project planning, clear goals
• Thematic relevance, aligned with the objectives of Earthrise 2026
• Experimental and/or innovative approach

• A motivation letter in English explaining how your work connects to the themes of this year’s exhibition
• PDF file with a project proposal in English, detailing the project you would like to make during your residency, including 3 images/sketches.
• Curriculum Vitae in English
• Website or Portfolio in English

Required output:

•  Physical output (to be displayed in the exhibition following the residency period)
• Project logbook / diary (to be displayed in the exhibition following the residency period)

Applications close on 3 july 2026. Results will be communicated by 20 july 2026. Residency will take place from 5 October to 3 December 2026. Exhibition will take place from 14 October 2026 to February 2027.
