TAB 2026 Vision Competition – From Void to Value: Revisioning Tallinn’s Old Town
TAB (Tallinn Architecture Biennale) is launching a vision competition for the renovation of Tallinn's old town. The deadline for submissions is April 27, 2026.
The competition asks how we can rethink Tallinn’s UNESCO-protected Gothic Old Town as a socially and materially “cheap” urban structure—accessible, usable, and integrated with contemporary city life—despite strict heritage constraints and entrenched market pressures.
The competition is open, single-stage. Urban planners, architects, landscape architects, interior architects and students are welcome to participate. There is no entry fee. The working language of the competition is English – all texts, subtitles and titles must be in English. The competition is anonymous. Entries must be identified with a project code, which is considered the project title.
Prizes:
First prize: EUR 4,499.99; Second prize: EUR 2,499.99; Third prize: EUR 1,499.99; and five honorable mentions. The winning projects will be exhibited at the main exhibition of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale 2026.
The submission deadline is April 27, 2026. Digital entries must be received by 23:59 EET (21:59 GMT).
The winners will be announced by May 6, 2026. All works will be exhibited as part of the extended program of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale.
More information can be found here or at info@tab.ee by April 23rd.
