October Skillshare brings us into the world of renowned Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc, who has built her reputation and presence with her designs for notable brands like Dior, Natuzzi, Moooi, Qeeboo, Moroso, and Sé; and for numerous clients for whom she designs complete collections, interiors, and spatial installations. Over the past decade she has built a personal collection of iconic pieces, with which she interprets and reflects contemporary culture, pushing the limits of materials and technology – like the Black Cherry light, which is made using a traditional glassblowing technique.

Her extensive design opus includes many common objects for home and living, from furniture, work tables and sofas to chandeliers, all the way to floral surfboards. This time at MAO she’s presenting her work through a selection of chairs in the MAO Project Space. Visitors will be able to see her latest pieces, which she designed for Natuzzi and which premiered this year; and her earlier pieces for Moooi, who invited her to work with them immediately after her solo show at Milan Design Week in 2009, where she’s been presenting ever since.

In her lecture, which will accompany the opening of the exhibition, Nika will talk about her career path and the events that impacted her work. Before that, she will offer personal advise to other designers on their career decisions at the dedicated Skillshare workshop.

The Skillshare workshop takes place on October 22nd between 10 am and noon. Each of the participants will have 15 minutes to introduce themselves to Nika. If you would like to apply for individual counselling, send us your CV and portfolio to info@czk.si. The number of participants is limited, and the session is expected to take place online.

Njeni izdelki so postali del kolekcij Moooi, Qeeboo, Sé, Moroso, Nodus in drugih.
