BACKGROUND

The event aims to shed light on the workings of contemporary Slovenian and Austrian architectural practices, which are interesting for the way they approach architectural themes and tasks. Architects today are no longer only concerned with designing beautiful houses and interiors, but the range of our tasks has grown beyond that. We are now spatial strategists, mediators between users and space, custodians of heritage and spatial activists, solving complex organisational and spatial problems.

At this event we present ten Slovenian and ten Viennese architectural practices that started their independent professional work in times of global financial and climate crises. The crises have also led to shifts in the way we think about the tasks of architecture, rethinking the connection between architecture and society, ecology, as well as the way we organise (architectural) practice.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

In their presentations, architects will present their way of working, what is the task of architecture today and how to present architectural themes to the public. In addition to the already selected Slovenian practices, 10 Austrian practices have been selected which have an affiliation to TU Vienna.

EVENT FORMAT

The format aims to present the selected Slovenian and Austrian practices in a comparative way, with each presentor having 3 minutes to present through a common format.
