We are presenting Slovenian art photographer and graphic designer Dino Kužnik, who lives and works in New York. Although he is a younger photographer who moved to the USA seven years ago, he soon managed to establish himself, owing to his unique visual style, in the field of documentary, commercial, fashion and portrait photography. His clients include American rapper Tyler the Creator, comedian and actor Jay Versace, The New Yorker magazine, the Wonderland Sun eyewear brand, as well as Tesla and Adobe, and Slovenian brands Flaviar and Petja Zorec.

At this year’s first Skillshare he will tell us how he managed it all and what the breakthrough moments were that allowed him to survive with photography in such a competitive environment as the American one. This event is therefore dedicated to those who dare to step into the unknown to reach for their dreams.

The event will be co-moderated by Špela Pipan, curator of Dino Kužnik’s exhibition “Shaped by the West,” which can be viewed live at the Photon Gallery until 5 February 2021.

In 2019, Dino Kužnik published his first monograph entitled Shaped by the West at the publishing house Aint-Bad (USA), and the second edition came out last year (and is already sold out). His works have been included in many online and print publications. He has exhibited in London, Ljubljana, New York, Toronto, Trieste, Arles, Detroit and Paris. In 2017, he was shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards (in the landscape photography category). Thus, his work was consequently included in an exhibition at Somerset House in London, alongside Martin Parr. His better known clients are Tyler the Creator, Jay Versace, Tesla, Adobe, The New Yorker, Flaviar and Petja Zorec. This year, he was selected as one of the recipients of the Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund and shortlisted for the Palm* Photo Prize. Among other things, Setanta Publishing also published his new publication, called 005 – Dino Kuznik.
