It is becoming clear that in the future we will no longer be able to travel quickly between individual international festivals, business meetings and performances, as this will be neither possible nor sustainable. Therefore, we are looking for ways to create long-term cooperation at both local and international levels. Building on the post-Yugoslav tradition of widespread cultural centres as focal points of local communities, we will bring together local and international representatives of festivals, residential houses and cultural centres operating outside large urban concentrations of power.
At the event, we want to put forward the creation of decentralised and sustainable artistic communities, engage in programming that reflects polycentricity and exchange views and experiences of what it means to operate outside political, financial and hyper-productive centres of power and audiences.
Join us on Saturday, 29 May in Maribor. Find out more in the ‘Program’ tab.

The project is presented in the Pavilion of the Republic of Slovenia at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia
LET’S CONNECT CENTERS:
Examples of good practice
We will bring together inspiring cultural producers from Slovenia and abroad who operate outside major centres of power. Who are these festivals, residential houses and cultural centres, and what lessons can we learn from their perseverance and work?
Moderators: Tjaša Pureber, Glej Theater and Nika Bezeljak, Moment
BREAK
LOCATING ART AGAIN: conversation
Challenges of working, thinking, programming and connecting art outside urban centres. We will focus on community networking and audience building issues and explore working models outside of power centres.
Moderators: Tjaša Pureber, Glej Theater and Nika Bezeljak, Moment
Uroš Kaurin, Vito Weis: Hero 2.0 – Performance of all performances
// author’s performance // length: 90 minutes // production: Moment, co-production: EN-KNAP Ljubljana
You may feel like you don’t need to see anything else after that, but these thrilling performers, who reach beyond the limits of the possible and their (and your) abilities, will make you want more. Even more (to them).
