You are invited to the opening of an exhibition presenting 31 design pieces that received the Made in Slovenia mark of excellence, conferred by the Centre for Creativity in 2025, and shedding light on the knowledge, processes, collaborations, and circumstances behind them.
Design pieces are tangible outcomes of myriad intangible connections, resulting from various forms of know-how, processes, and collaborations. The exhibition sheds light on the circumstances of their making – from development, production, and financing to the support system – as well as on their impacts on users, communities, and the environment.
These diverse products are arranged in thematic sections: Production conditions, From need to solution, Systemic innovation process, Dialogue with the material, Heritage rekindled, Providing the conditions for the community, Sustainability as a relationship, and From product to ecosystem. The themes are complemented by interviews with experts from various fields, who situate the presented practices within broader historical, social, and economic contexts.
The exhibition also provides an overview of design products that received the Made in Slovenia mark of excellence between 2019 and 2024. The mark of excellence serves to showcase, support, and promote quality Slovenian design.
Offering different readings of the products, the exhibition raises questions about contemporary Slovenian design practice. Rather than providing a comprehensive review, it puts forward one possible perspective on design, offering a springboard for further research into its (in)visible threads, which will continue through different programmes and activities run by the Centre for Creativity.
Organizer’s note: The exhibition opening has been rescheduled from September 17th to October 1st at 7:00 PM.
