Fashion incubator 2026: fashion designer presentation 7/15

Hana Tavčar is a painter, designer and author of her own brand of fashion accessories and home products. Her work is based on traditional crafts and customs, which she upgrades with modern technologies, and develops a recognizable expression at the intersection of art, design and handicraft. Her projects are based on a thoughtful, sustainable and research-based approach, often drawing on a rich knowledge of painting and visual arts.

 

After completing her studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, she continued her studies in the field of textile design at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, and additionally studied illustration at the HSLU Hochschule Luzern.

 

She has received several awards for her work, including the Perspective BIGSEE award, the Prešeren Student Award, and the Daljnogled award. Among other things, her project was shown at the world-renowned international textile art triennial in Lodz, Poland, in the youth section: YTAT Young textile art triennial. With three extensive and comprehensive projects, she presented herself at three international textile art biennials BIEN in Kranj, in 2020, 2021, and 2023. Her project Dirty Business/Umazani posli, which stems from Slovenian cultural heritage, was also presented at the Vienna Design Week and the Knit and Weave exhibition at Hollenegg Castle.
