Exhibition Opening: 27 May 2022 at 18:00

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00

Za prijavo na dogodek se morate naprej registrirat na naši spletni strani.

On Friday, 27 May 2022, the Cukrarna Palace in Ljubljana will host the opening   of Created in Slovenia, an exhibition of the Museum of Architecture and Design aimed at presenting the achievements of the Centre for Creativity as well as selected programmes developed under its auspices during the first period of the Centre’s operation. The exhibition provides an insight into the work and projects of the Slovenian creative community as they change the domestic and international landscape, creating a different, inclusive, and sustainable future.

In its almost five years of operation, CzK has organised more than 500 programmes aimed at developing the sector, and recorded 248,000 participations of creators, creative businesses, self-employed freelancers, private and non-governmental organisations, and other visitors. Of these, almost 500 companies and several thousand creators were involved in specific programmes. Supported by the Ministry’s calls for proposals and by the CzK they are developing over 200 innovative products and services, maintaining over 50 collaborations between creators and companies from other economy sectors, and are funding 62 new jobs in creative enterprises. To date, over 100 Slovenian creators and entrepreneurs were represented at more than 60 exhibitions and events in 24 countries around the world

The current exhibition, Created in Slovenia, looks back at the first period of the platform’s operation and presents a selection of some of the Centre for Creativity’s most important programmes. The CzK, together with its established partner network and many other partners, connects and supports thousands of creators, artists, self-employed freelancers in culture, creative entrepreneurs, organisations, associations, and institutions across different areas of the sector. On display are the works and projects of a vibrant and creative community whose common denominator is its capacity to create change in society and to think differently, inclusively, and sustainably.

As part of BIO27 Supervernacular, whose production platform and accompanying programme is produced by the Centre for Creativity, the Curkrarna Palace will host three different international exhibitions, The Ideal Eating Experience (Kathrina Dankl in collaboration with Vienna Design Week and Vienna Business Agency) The School of the Untold (Design Campus in collaboration with German Design Graduates and the Goethe Institute) and DNA of Things (Marcin Rusak), which deal with alternatives to the existing systems and show how an experimental and interdisciplinary process enables creative research and innovation, making social and entrepreneurial innovation happen in the first place.

The Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) in 2017, at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, established the Centre for Creativity (CzK) – an interdisciplinary platform aimed at the development and promotion of the cultural and creative sector in Slovenia, as well as its integration with the economy and other sectors. Together with the Ministry of Culture’s calls for proposals aimed at promoting creative industries, it supports projects that emerge at the intersection of different creative fields and entrepreneurship and contribute to economic and social progress.

What is digital marketing and how can I use it to promote a fashion brand on a budget? These are common questions faced by young as well as seasoned fashion designers who are looking for new sales channels to reach relevant customers. But since the fashion world is somewhat specific, and the budgets for promotion are extremely limited, we have to be particularly skilful in our work. So how do you even get started and what results can you expect? Just like in the fashion world, lets guide ourselves by our own creativity.

After beginnings in traditional media, Anže Frantar took the digital path and landed in digital marketing through a blog dedicated to street style, fashion journalism and public relations. He developed many domestic and foreign brands. Today, as a specialist in creative and content concepts, he takes care of marketing and sales solutions for internationally recognized companies in the PM agency, business media.

Creative professions need ideas twice: for their own market presence and for solutions for their business partners. The development of business in the creative industries is practically unlimited with teleworking, but it also increases the competition.

You are invited to a workshop as part of the Creative Accelerator, where we will talk about growth hacking – a methodology of rapid experimentation through different marketing and sales channels as well as different segments and through adapting products to achieve company growth. The recipe for success is: the faster you experiment, the more you will learn and, as a rule, the faster you will grow.

The workshop will be led by Maja Voje, who will first use examples to show how both companies and individuals have found their levers for growth, so that you can fully understand how different the levers of growth can be between different types of companies and business models. The introductory part will be followed by an hour of workshop work on your cases, where we will focus on using the growth hacking methodology in the field of creative industries, which will help you gather ideas and prioritize which ideas to implement first – to develop your business and stand out on the market.

We will develop a growth marketing strategy that is tied to your specific goals, with everything focused on ensuring that you can find the best way to your business goal through prioritization.

The workshop is a great fit for those graphic designers, UX experts, fashion brand designers, architects and other creative specialists who:

  • make plans to launch your products or services
  • want to stand out as a freelancer in the market and create more added value,
  • need more visibility and traffic to your website,
  • want to optimize the cost of acquiring new customers
  • always want to try something new and you are thirsty for ideas to experiment.

Each of her collections is an in-depth exploration of animal species endangered by human activity.

Creatives often think that our business dilemmas will be solved by an investor who believes in our product and invests in it. This time, the Skillshare will focus on what to expect from an investor and what not and how to create sustainable luxury. Our guest will be Matea Benedetti, an internationally renowned Slovenian fashion designer who has focused on luxury sustainable fashion. She will tell us more about her views on the fashion industry as well as her experience with investors in her company and her cooperation with world-famous footballer Jan Oblak and master chef Ana Roš.

Matea Benedetti creates through her fashion brand Benedetti Life, whose main guidelines are luxury aesthetics, environmental awareness, responsible consumerism and ethical business practices. She uses only non-toxic, ecological textile and production processes that do not harm water, soil or human health. Her collections are inspired by the constant search for new rare natural fibres from around the world that are carefully selected and certified. She focuses on production processes and supply chains that are focused on local production and puts the working conditions of workers at the forefront of operations.

Already during her studies, she realized that something is very wrong with the fashion industry, which not only pollutes our waters, land and air but also endangers the health of the entire planet and is also unethical. Clothing, footwear and household textiles are responsible for water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and large amounts of waste. According to some estimates, textile production is responsible for about 20% of the world’s pollution of clean water due to textile dyeing. Fast fashion – constantly providing new styles at very low prices – has resulted in large quantities of quickly discarded clothing as well as 10% of global CO2 emissions – more than international flights and maritime transport combined.

Matea Benedetti designed several collections from biodegradable and recycled materials, including pineapple leather, bamboo and recycled plastic knitwear, and is fully committed to sustainable ready-to-wear fashion. She has become a true connoisseur of the technological processes needed to make organic materials from plants. What is behind certified organic cotton? Is apple or pineapple leather better? How is silk made from wood? How to use hemp fibre in high-end fashion? How environmentally friendly is recycled plastic yarn?

Matea combines a green spirit with design and inspires responsible behaviour with beauty and luxury. Every collection she makes is an exploration of animal species that are endangered by human activity.

Matea Benedetti

Already during her studies, she realized that there is something very wrong with the fashion industry, which not only pollutes our waters, earth and air but also endangers the health of the planet and is also unethical. Although Matea Benedetti began her career as a costume designer for opera houses and theatres, she soon tackled the issue of pollution caused by the fashion industry. She launched her first sustainable collection in 2014. That same year, Vogue Italia selected her as one of the 20 most promising brands of environmentally friendly clothing in the world. In 2017, she was among the five finalists for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, founded by Livia Firth and awarded during Milan Fashion Week. In 2018, she received the Positive Luxury Award and the Big See Fashion Design Award, and in 2020, alongside Louis Vuitton and Vivienne Westwood, she participated in the Red Carpet Green Dress in Los Angeles, hosted by film director and producer James Cameron and Suzy Amis Cameron.

The flexibility of creative companies and the ability to adapt quickly to digital markets remains one of the most popular trends of recent times. This lecture and workshop will be held by Alja Horvat, illustrator and graphic designer from Maribor and recipient of the Elle Style Award 2019 in the ‘Young Talent’ category and included in the Forbes list ‘30 under 30’ in the Art & Culture category. • what needs to be considered when selecting and establishing new collaborations,

  • concluding cooperation agreements and determining the scope of work of each partner,
  • examples of good and bad cooperation practices.

The goal of every brand is to create a networking of the target audience, but in the flood of competitors and approaches, it’s hard to find a recipe for success that would turn a passive audience into loyal advocates. For a brand to be able to position itself confidently and successfully on the market, it must first truly understand and know its customers, produce such messages for them that will encourage dialogue and then give their communication a suitable personality and find the brand’s voice.

We will get to know who, what and how to communicate as a brand at an interactive e-workshop with Masha Mazi.

The workshop will discuss in more detail:

  • definition of the target audience based on facts and not guesses,
  • ways in which and where this target audience can be found,
  • practical setting of key messages and
  • permeating key messages with the personality and language of the brand in your cases.

Masha Mazi is a brand development strategist and founder of the creative studio Atlas Authentica. Her experience covers a wide range - marketing, PR, UX planning and graphic design. At the moment, she focuses on mentoring young creatives in shaping their careers and advising companies in the areas of branding, innovation and sustainability. Asociacija, in cooperation with the Centre for Creativity at the Museum for Architecture and Design, invites you to participate in the workshop Accounting and Taxes for Artists in the Field of Culture.

From a business point of view, artists must legally and formally document their creative activity, thus a number of administrative procedures need to be carried out, followed by various accounting commitments. Which is why it is extremely important for creators to acquire this knowledge as soon as possible.

The basics of the law dealing with economic status, various legal forms, and administrative commitments will be addressed at the workshop within the project Educational Workshops: Strengthening the Cultural and Creative Sector, which Asocijacija is co-producing with the Centre for Creativity at the Museum for Architecture and Design. Accounting for creatives will be led by tax consultant Urh Vele.

The basics of accounting and taxes for the self-employed will be clearly presented at the workshop. The characteristics of various forms of status (s.p., d.o.o., institute, association), types of taxes (direct, indirect), methods of taxation on income from work (standard costs, actual income / expenses), etc. will be presented. We will also focus on completing the annual tax return, which must be submitted to the tax administration by the end of March by all those who are already active.

The workshop will be conducted through the online platform Zoom. Participants must register for the workshop in advance no later than March 20, 2021.

We are presenting Slovenian art photographer and graphic designer Dino Kužnik, who lives and works in New York. Although he is a younger photographer who moved to the USA seven years ago, he soon managed to establish himself, owing to his unique visual style, in the field of documentary, commercial, fashion and portrait photography. His clients include American rapper Tyler the Creator, comedian and actor Jay Versace, The New Yorker magazine, the Wonderland Sun eyewear brand, as well as Tesla and Adobe, and Slovenian brands Flaviar and Petja Zorec.

At this year’s first Skillshare he will tell us how he managed it all and what the breakthrough moments were that allowed him to survive with photography in such a competitive environment as the American one. This event is therefore dedicated to those who dare to step into the unknown to reach for their dreams.

The event will be co-moderated by Špela Pipan, curator of Dino Kužnik’s exhibition “Shaped by the West,” which can be viewed live at the Photon Gallery until 5 February 2021.

A video presentation of the exhibition is available: https://photon.si/video-vodenje-po-razstavi-dino-kuznik-shaped-by-the-west/

In 2019, Dino Kužnik published his first monograph entitled Shaped by the West at the publishing house Aint-Bad (USA), and the second edition came out last year (and is already sold out). His works have been included in many online and print publications. He has exhibited in London, Ljubljana, New York, Toronto, Trieste, Arles, Detroit and Paris. In 2017, he was shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards (in the landscape photography category). Thus, his work was consequently included in an exhibition at Somerset House in London, alongside Martin Parr. His better known clients are Tyler the Creator, Jay Versace, Tesla, Adobe, The New Yorker, Flaviar and Petja Zorec. This year, he was selected as one of the recipients of the Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund and shortlisted for the Palm* Photo Prize. Among other things, Setanta Publishing also published his new publication, called 005 – Dino Kuznik.

Marko Peljhan is a conceptual artist, researcher and professor at UC Santa Barbara. He works at the intersection of art, technology and science, and his work of the last 27 years has been presented in museums and exhibitions around the world and awarded at numerous festivals and biennials. He is a recipient of the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica, presented at the 50th and 58th Venice Biennales and documenta in Kassel. Several projects have emerged out of his work, where art is intertwined with high-tech and industry. In 2007 he co-founded the C-Astral company, a frontrunner in the field of drone production and small unmanned aerial vehicles, and was one of the key initiators of the Center Odličnosti Vesolje (Slovenian Centre of Excellence for Space Sciences and Technologies Space-SI), which produced and launched the first Slovenian NEMO-HD micro-satellite.

The event will focus on and assess the possible developmental and business opportunities of and through artistic pursuits and how artistic thinking can contribute to the growth of innovation and unexpected use of technologies.

Marko Peljhan’s projects, initiatives and collaborations extend to the fields of ecology, social reflection and aeronautical and space research. In his art practice, he often uses materials and methods that directly confront systems of social control and their strategies, the development of new communication technologies, transport and surveillance, and the question of how political, economic and military power systems accelerate technological development and how we direct this development with so-called “conversions”.

Individual counselling is intended primarily for artists who are interested in how to direct and convert their artistic pursuits into business ideas, and entrepreneurs who are interested in strategic cooperation between the art and research sectors.

Register for the workshop here.

Marko Peljhan has exhibited at Ars Electronics and in museums such as MoMA PS1, New Museum of Contemporary Art, NTT ICC in Tokyo, YCAM in Yamaguchi, Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, ACC in Gwangju, and Garage in Moscow, among others. In 2001, he received the Ars Electronica Golden Nica for the Polar project, which he co-created with German artist Carsten Nicolai. Together with the American-Canadian artist Matthew Biederman, he has been leading the Arctic Perspective Initiative since 2008, which reflects on the global significance of the Arctic’s geopolitical, natural and cultural dimensions and was exhibited in 2011 at the Coded Utopia exhibition at the Modern Gallery Ljubljana. In Slovenia, he was one of the initiators behind the establishment of the Center odličnosti Vesolje (The Slovenian Centre of Excellence for Space Sciences and Technologies SPACE-SI), and in 1998 began working actively in space and aeronautical research and the culturalization of space. In 1998 in Piran, he organized for AV Studio the first live video connection between the Russian space station MIR and Slovenia while it was flying over Slovenia. On the radio waves he is known as S54MX.

The company C-Astral, co-founded with Sam Stopar and Nejc Trošt in Ajdovščina, is a frontrunner in the production of small unmanned aerial systems (UAS) with a fixed wing and a special emphasis on high productivity, durability, aerial surveying and other remote sensing methods. Commonly, their clients consist in commercial UAS operators, major institutional networks, scientific users, and government entities. Currently, C-Astral systems fly for more than a dozen governments on four continents and are used for research, missing persons, force protection, border protection, fire control, and remote sensing. They are also used by more than 100 commercial and scientific operators worldwide. C-Astral has a multidisciplinary laboratory for software and hardware for work in aerodynamics and for system integration, as well as a prototype CAD/CAM workshop for the production and modelling of composite materials. Today, C-Astral systems flies across all continents, even in extreme environments such as high-altitude open pits, deserts, mountains, Antarctica, Arctic, agricultural land, and forests around the world.

Welcome Speech

9:45-10:45

Central theme: Accelerate growth of your business through service innovation, Kristi Hodak (UK), Assistant Director of Design at McKinsey & Company

We live in a paradoxical time. We have the tools to connect with people around the world in an instant, and the technology to share our knowledge in an instant, yet we still spend hours and hours filling out forms on paper for simple, everyday services and pointless tasks. Kristi Hodak, a service design specialist and expert in the sustainable implementation of transformation services, will talk about rethinking these time-consuming, bureaucratic and complex systems and how to replace them with simple, useful services that improve our daily lives.

11:00-12:15

Leaders’ Panel: From Unplanned Spill-overs to Deliberate Cross-overs moderated by Ragnar Siil (EST), Cultural Policy and Creative Industries Expert

Governments around the world are starting to understand the spill-over effects of the creative industries – the unplanned impact on other sectors, e.g. tourism or social well-being. However, what is still mostly absent is deliberate and planned coordination between the creative industries and other policy areas to foster positive results and fully take advantage of the transformative impact.

Ministers and high-level representatives of the European Commission and the OECD will discuss practical ways  to advance impacting crossovers between culture, the economy, and other areas, and to bring culture from the wings to centre stage. Together, we are seeking an answer to the question: what is the role of creativity in the building of more cohesive, more innovative and happier societies?

11:00-12:15

Service Design in Slovenia – Why, When, Where and Who? moderated by Aleš Ugovšek (SI), PhD, Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Services are booming and taking on an increasingly important role in our daily lives. As consumers become more critical and demanding, it is becoming even more important to design these services more effectively. Over the past 30 years, many service design methods have been developed in order to better understand the customer’s perspective. How have these methods reshaped the Slovenian service sector? In which industries has design thinking taken root? Join us and meet some of the companies that have stepped up their game with service design!

13:00-14:30

Preparing Fertile Grounds: Policies to Connect Business and Creativity moderated by Bernd Fesel (DE), Chair of the European Creative Business Network

The value of cultural and creative industries extends far beyond the immediate beneficial effects of culture on an individual’s well-being and community cohesion. Establishing links to industry and commerce has beneficial spillover effects, not only for businesses but also for the economy in general. This is why governments actively support further integration of the CCI into other economic sectors. Which policy instruments have proved effective when trying to bring companies and creatives closer? We will take a closer look at selected policies that have made the biggest bang!

13:00-14:30

Creating Value: Companies and Creatives Hand in Hand moderated by Matej Golob (SI), Innovation Management Consultant

Innovative practices in culture and creativity not only reinforce the innovative capacities of the CCI sector, but spill over into new approaches, practices, services, and products in the economy at large. Companies that understand such potential include creatives in their production processes. What do the cultural and creative sectors bring to the table? Which approaches of CCI inclusion have proved to be the most successful? Join the panel to see first-hand how companies benefit from collaboration with the cultural and creative sectors.

14:45-15:30

Art&Science: What Artistic Innovation can Give to Science&Business? moderated by Peter Purg (SI), PhD, Researcher of Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship

Artists are increasingly joining scientists in their research facilities; the tools and methodologies used by artists and designers radically shift the way research questions are conceived and the way problems are discussed and articulated. These unorthodox methodologies often lead to unorthodox solutions, providing inspiration not only to the teams they are part of but also to society at large. Can artists engage meaningfully in all phases of scientific research? Where could the outsiders’ artistic approach contribute the most? Can these participatory methodologies also provide inspiration for addressing the burning issues of the present? Join leading entrepreneurs and researchers to find out how artists add value to their work.

14:45-15:30

Creative Hubs Session: Hacking New Realities, moderated by Luka Piškorič & Eva Matjaž (SI), Poligon Creative Centre
(on invitation only)

Recognised for their important role in fostering communities of creative professionals and businesses, creative hubs are on the frontline of the challenges facing the creative sector. While the coronavirus crisis has forced many of the hubs to drastically limit their activities, this session will invite creative hub managers to co-create survival strategies for their hubs and communities.

October Skillshare brings us into the world of renowned Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc, who has built her reputation and presence with her designs for notable brands like Dior, Natuzzi, Moooi, Qeeboo, Moroso, and Sé; and for numerous clients for whom she designs complete collections, interiors, and spatial installations. Over the past decade she has built a personal collection of iconic pieces, with which she interprets and reflects contemporary culture, pushing the limits of materials and technology – like the Black Cherry light, which is made using a traditional glassblowing technique.

Her extensive design opus includes many common objects for home and living, from furniture, work tables and sofas to chandeliers, all the way to floral surfboards. This time at MAO she’s presenting her work through a selection of chairs in the MAO Project Space. Visitors will be able to see her latest pieces, which she designed for Natuzzi and which premiered this year; and her earlier pieces for Moooi, who invited her to work with them immediately after her solo show at Milan Design Week in 2009, where she’s been presenting ever since.

In her lecture, which will accompany the opening of the exhibition, Nika will talk about her career path and the events that impacted her work. Before that, she will offer personal advise to other designers on their career decisions at the dedicated Skillshare workshop.

The Skillshare workshop takes place on October 22nd between 10 am and noon. Each of the participants will have 15 minutes to introduce themselves to Nika. If you would like to apply for individual counselling, send us your CV and portfolio to info@czk.si. The number of participants is limited, and the session is expected to take place online.

Content Marketing: Basics for the Creative sector

20. and 27. oct 2020

| 14:00

Na spletu

Workshop: 14:00–15:00

Presentation of a good practice: 15:00–15:30

Za prijavo na dogodek se morate naprej registrirat na naši spletni strani.

The October issue of Creative Accelerator workshops will host Christina Forster from Heartbeats Innovation & Communication, who will present the basics of content marketing for the creative sector in two parts. Each workshop will be followed by a presentation of good practices in the field of ceramics by designers in Slovenia, in which we will present the work of Hana Karim and Vera Stanković.

With the constant growth of the digital world, reaching and communicating with target groups is becoming more and more demanding for companies, organizations, entrepreneurs and creators. This is nothing uncommon, as we are all saturated with new messages: according to the latest statistics, we receive a total of up to 10,000 messages from various brands, online and otherwise, over the course of a single day. As a result, individual brands find it difficult to get the attention of the people they are targeting.

At this point, content marketing comes into play, as it allows us to reach the right people with the right message at the right time on the right channel(s). Not only that, content marketing can greatly contribute to the growth and spread of values of a particular brand, as well as to achieving set goals and allowing the customer to establish a connection with the brand online, which is hugely essential in the current situation.

Workshop topics:

  • The most important tools of content marketing.
  • How to tell a story and how to find the right stories for your brand.
  • How to find the best channels and best sales formats for your brand.
  • Trends in content marketing: responsible storytelling and the impact of communication.
  • A simple process to create a online customer experience.
  • How to create and implement a content plan.

The workshop and presentations will be held in English.

We are also opening applications for individual counselling with Christina Foster.

The event is a collaborative effort with the Creative Entrepreneurship in Ceramic Regions (CerDee) project, which is being implemented by the Narodni Muzej Slovenije (National Museum of Slovenia) as one of the partners. The aim of the project is to preserve, promote and strengthen the creative potential of the cultural heritage of designing and manufacturing useful and decorative ceramics to meet the requirements of the modern market in a global world, which is also crucial for contemporary Slovenian artists.

#1 Introduction + ideas: how content marketing and storytelling can become crucial support

The first part of the e-workshop is devoted to learning how content marketing can help you achieve your business goals and the tools we need to achieve this. We will look not only at how to find the best stories for your brand, but also how to choose the right forms and channels (social networks) to tell these stories.

15:00–15:30

Presentation of a good practice: Hana Karim.

# 2 Trends + tactics: how to structure and implement content marketing

In the second part of the e-workshop, we will take a quick look at the latest trends in content marketing, such as responsible storytelling and the impact of communication. We will look at simple steps on how to create an online customer experience and a content plan using the resources at your disposal.

Culture for the Economy

23 Oct 2020

Koper, Maribor, Ljubljana

Za prijavo na dogodek se morate naprej registrirat na naši spletni strani.

Asocijacija group with CzK (Centre for Creativity) under MAO (Museum for Architecture and Design) is inviting visitors to take part in the Culture for the Economy workshop.

Linking the economy with culture, traditional sponsorship models and marketing can have many positive effects on a company. Urška Jež, an expert in the field, will present current trends in cross-field integration and the multiplier effects of successful cooperation with the cultural and creative sector to various interested entrepreneurs.

Connecting companies directly with culture can have a wide range of effects, some of which are distinct and often better than other sponsorship and marketing communication arrangements.

The workshop will teach companies about the effects they can achieve if they direct sponsorship funds to cultural events and organizations; what challenges both in the environment and within the company can be addressed by including cultural sponsorships in their programs; and what additional results can be achieved by incorporating culture into the day-to-day life of the company.

The workshop is an opportunity to become better familiar with the specifics of non-governmental (NGO) cultural organizations, with a particular focus on managing a diverse portfolio of target groups with which NGO cultural organizations interact in their work. We will also discuss the specifics of the NGO cultural organization operations and how they affect the development of models and competencies that can help grow organizational culture at companies, help gain competitive advantages in the market, or new perspectives on environmental challenges.

The workshop will be held in three locations in Slovenia – in Koper, Ljubljana and Maribor. The number of participants is limited. You can register for the workshop by sending an e-mail to marusa.golob@asociacija.si, no later than September 6th.

The Poligon Creative Centre and the Centre for Creativity are invite you to a workshop on tips and tricks for self-employed during pandemic of COVID-19.

There are many services in Slovenia that offer quality support to the self-employed in overcoming administrative and bureaucratic obstacles. Also, the self-employed often get involved in various incubator programs designed to upgrade business concepts. The workshops that Poligonovci have been designing and conducting since 2016 under the common title “Self-employed, but not alone” are slightly different.

Our workshops include exercises and strategies to strengthen soft work skills, which we have been developing at the Poligon for several years with the involvement of over 3,000 self-employed people. Workshops put you – the worker – at the centre instead of your project. We believe that by focusing on sharpening your work skills, we can help you work more successfully, not only on the next project, but in the long run:

→ to organize your work in a more sensible way,

→ to navigate between all the different tasks with less effort,

→ so you don’t sell your services below cost,

→ and not just to live for work, but to work to live better.

The workshop topics vary: from reflecting on your professional path, setting the value of your work and the organization of work practice, to working with colleagues and clients, and navigating between a variety of work roles and tasks. This time, for the first time, we will also conduct a workshop focused on dealing with the new working reality during COVID-19.

Purpose of the workshop Nora Normalnost (CRAZY NORMALITY)

For many, the COVID-19 pandemic is becoming the most stressful period in their entire career. Walking around with masks and measuring our temperature, while the media constantly report on the daily number of infected and dead and present the blackest economic forecasts of the expected crisis, it is no wonder that we feel stress, anxiety, fear, sadness, restlessness, helplessness, irritability, difficulties sleeping and concentrating, and experiencing various physical symptoms and other unpleasant sensations. At the same time, we still need to keep a sober head, pay the bills and acquire, and carry out various projects in much more uncertain conditions than before.

Above all, workshop wants to open a space for safe discussion and finding solutions on how to survive the Corona as a worker in the cultural and creative sector. In the workshop, we will try to:

  1. Make an analysis and reflection of the situation: the challenges of the work and life of creators in the uncertain year 2020.
  2. Design and share different solid approaches and strategies to deal with this “crazy” work normality.
  3. Explore opportunities for mutual support and assistance.

The workshop will be led by Mag. Eva Matjaž, psychologist and program manager of Poligon and Luka Piškorič, economist and director of the Poligon.

The opening of the Tunnel 29 exhibition at MAO will feature a discussion on internationalization in the creative industries as part of the Creative Accelerator programme.

Presence on foreign markets is important and often necessary for creative companies, but a good strategy is required in order to establish brand recognition and regular sales abroad. We will discuss how to tackle internationalization and conquer foreign markets with companies that are already established abroad: how and why to attend international fairs, how to achieve greater international recognition through awards and online platforms, and how the road to internationalization has changed during the time of Covid19.

Our distinguished guests Gorazd Malačič from Asobi, designer Tina Rugelj, Matej Feguš from the Donar company and Petra Ambrožič from SPIRIT Slovenia will present their experiences.

Join us live in the courtyard of the Museum for Architecture and Design on Thursday, June 18, 2020, starting at 7 p.m., and for live streaming on our YouTube channel and Facebook page. Registration for the event is necessary via the online registration form.

In the digital age it is no longer important who and what you know, but who knows what you know. The way things are right now, we do not have much control over what will happen next, but we can still learn new skills and work on our social media presence.

Our Creative Connector is moving online this April. In the series of three Tuesday e-workshops we will take a closer look at how we can build a professional brand as creatives without spending most of our time on social networks; together with mentor Jasna Klemenc Puntar we will explore the toolkits for successful branding and analyse good practices in Slovenia and abroad.

To attend the workshop you have to register at www.czk.silog in with your username and click “I want to register for the event”. When you have registered you will receive a worksheet, which you can complete before the workshop, and a link to the lecture website. E-workshops will take place online and can be attended live:

#2 Online identity and platforms

Everybody has an online identity, even if they don’t actively work on building it. In part 2 we are going to look at good practices from different social networks and platforms.

Tuesday, April 21st 2020

14:00 - 15:00

3 Why have a basic LinkedIn profile

The third workshop in the series will take a closer look at LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional development network and publishing platform with the largest community of professionals and leaders. We will show you how you can best use it as a tool for building connections and e-networking.

Jasna Klemenc Puntar

Jasna has more than 20 years’ experience with go-to-market activities and has already launched more than 20 products. She is very fond of the creative and cultural industries – one of her projects at Delo newspaper focused on Miki Muster’s comics, for example, and at ReceiptBank she worked on the go-to-market strategy and growth of mobile apps for freelancers. She enjoys running design sprints and mentoring on how to select and make optimal marketing and sales tools in the shortest time. Currently she is working on a new product with her partners – hands-on e-training at Udemy on what it takes to successfully launch (technological) products through channel marketing. She also runs group workshops Your Professional Brand and LinkedIn, where she advises on building a personal brand and online credibility, how to explore the market and create sales opportunities as a freelancer or founder. She is one of the hosts of the LinkedIn Local initiative Domžale Kamnik, which connects a local community of creatives and professionals.

As part of Centre for Creativity’s programme ”Creative Accelerator and Associated Programme of 26th Biennial of Design”, run by the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana, we are organising a workshop, a series of lectures and an individual support desk on the topic of intellectual property (IP) rights for the creative and cultural sector in Slovenia. Aimed at creatives, who are wondering how they can protect their creative works, how the process works when it comes to shared authorship, how to protect IP rights in a licence agreement, what kind of IP protection routes exist for creative practices, how to make most of IP rights and how the Slovenian government helps with that process.

IP Thinkshop is a workshop run by the EU co-funded project Creative FLIP, followed by a series of lectures, and, at the same time, there will be an open desk (IP Clinic) for individual consultation on IP rights, which will also run the next day in the Ajdovščina Underpass.

Registration for the IP Thinkshop is necessary, as the places are limited; however, no registration is required for lectures and IP Clinic as they are based on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the IP Thinkshop, IP Clinic and the lecture by Anna Maria Stein will be held in English.

These workshops and lectures will help you with questions on how to protect the property rights for the creative works, how the process works when it comes to shared authorship, how to protect IP rights in a licence agreement, what kind of IP protection routes exist for creative practices, how to make most of IP rights and how the Slovenian government helps with that process.
